Waste Products
The intervals at which we renew our everyday products are getting shorter and shorter. This does not necessarily have to do with the fact that we have become more wasteful, but that our way of life is becoming more flexible, faster and less complicated. For a long time, what we call “plastic“ has changed our way of life and has played a key role in shaping it. With the development of new markets and economic growth worldwide, the use of plastic is now ubiquitous. Anyone who has ever walked along a beach after stormy seas and found products in the sand that have not been produced for a long time or they are labeled in a foreign language does not need any scientific studies to know that we are facing a global problem...
How could it be otherwise, the polymer was developed in a university laboratory. After a team of biochemists had used all their skills, they (rightly) proudly presented us with the finished polymer as granules. Now we had what we had been working towards for so long. However, it should take a while until the first product, as it cannot be processed like conventional plastic. Large industrial plants and contract manufacturers cannot work in the kilogram or gram range. Therefore this way was blocked. So Falko, one of the founders of Schnuffi, began to experiment not in a laboratory but at home in the kitchen...
The original idea was to replace the packaging material in the ever-growing mail order business. All that styrofoam, plastic bags, cardboard / paper can only be used once. It couldn't go on like this. However, it would be a shame to only use such an innovation as our La-1152® for one product. So we started experimenting in all directions with our La-1152®. Whenever we see an everyday object that can only be used once or is thrown away en masse, we asked ourselves the question: "Is it possible to replace this?" Some questions have already been answered and that with a clear “yes”...
The advantages of our La-1152® are manifold. On the one hand, we have the natural compostability of our products, which means without chemical or technical tools. This benefits our environment not only in terms of biodegradability, but also in waste management, since a separate recycling cycle is no longer necessary. In addition, we do not use fossils or finite raw materials to manufacture our polymer. The simple processing means that there are no toxic by-products. We use Hemp, grass, straw, wheat bran and other adventages of fast growing raw materials as fillers. We also use sawdust from forestry...
